Red Lipstick – How to pick the right one

Red LipstickRed is one of those colors, which can make anyone look gorgeous. But you have to pick the right RED!. Getting “the” perfect red lipstick for your skin tone is like getting that perfectly fitting denims. You know what I mean. Red is the perfect, timeless and gorgeous looking color which will never go out of fashion.

Some of you think that the red lipstick looks good on others, except yourself. You may have appreciated some one who looks like a diva putting on that red lipstick but somehow you can’t convince yourself to wear one. There is a right kind of red for every skin tone. All you have to do is look for one.

The very basics of choosing the right color depends on your skin tone. So, if the skin inside your wrist shows an orange or red tinge then your skin is ‘warm’. Blue or pink tinge means your skin tone is ‘cool’ and if its peach or yellow then it means you have a ‘neutral’ skin tone. If you still can’t figure it out, you can ask any beauty advisor at a cosmetic counter shop.

The shades of red had a ball of a year because MAC’s Ruby Woo was the top selling lipstick of 2013 in the United States. So, now let’s talk about how to identify which shad of red lipstick is best suited for you.

Red lipsticks & skin tone

Pale/fair and light skin tend to look better in cool reds, berry reds like cranberry, with blue undertones. You can choose any bold to dark shades.

Medium and bronze skin tones look great in brownish-reds. This skin tone can actually pull off all the shades of red.

Light brown skin looks best in dark red-based reds.

Dark skin can handle more intense color, like deep reds and reds with blue undertones. Fabulous wines, berries and brick reds look great but keep the make up light.

There is nothing right or nothing wrong when it comes to fashion. It is all about your comfort level, personal style and the way you want to carry yourself. To decide on the shade of lipstick you are looking at, follow the same trick for determining your skin tone. Still confused with matte or gloss lipstick shades, then keep exploring till you find the right one! Smile
